We think there is an analogy between mediators and Gothic
cathedrals.
The Gothic cathedral has the power by dint of its lofty
architecture to move the visitor beyond his concept of
reality and to consider an alternative reality on a more
spiritual plain.
Likewise, a mediator, through his expertise, has the potential
of causing a disputant to reconsider his habitual perception
of reality and view the dispute differently, which provides
options new to him.
